Kheechan, situated 130 km from Jodhpur and 5 km from Phalodi, is a natural sanctuary to the bird, kurjan. These migratory cranes come from Black Sea, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, North and South Africa and Mongolia to this village when cold becomes intolerable at home. This village is a heaven for bird watchers. The place offers the most unusual avian sights in Asia. It is also a good base to see chestnut-bellied sandgrouse, long-legged buzzard and pallid harrier.
Nearest railhead is at Phalodi.
