Khatu, formerly known as Shatkup (six wells), is a place of great archeological importance. It is located in the Nagaur District
. Old Khatu has been almost destroyed. Now, Khatu comprises two villages named Bari Khatu and Chhoti Khatu. The village of Chhoti Khatu has an old stepwell named Phool Bawadi and a small fort which was built by Prathviraj Chouhan. It is believed that this stepwell was constructed in Gurjara Pratihara period.
