Kalpathy Ratholsavam

Kalpathy Chariot Festival is a famous car festival, celebrated at Kalpathy in Palakkad District of Kerala. This week-long annual festival is held in the month of November.

It takes place at the Kalpathy Sree Viswanatha Swamy Temple, one of the oldest Shiva temples in the state. During the festival, Kalpathy comes alive with the spirit of true devotion and joyous celebration. A range of Vedic recitals are held in the temple.

The festival is dominated by three chariots, decorated with flowers and flags, and each blessed by the presence of the lord. Devotees throng the temple in large numbers during this festive season.

The festival is also celebrated in the three satellite temples of new Kalpathy, old Kalpathy and Chathapuram villages.
