Institute of Wood Science and Technology is located in about 10 hectare land in Malleswaram and is near the Indian Institute of Science and State Forest Department, Karnataka. It conducts research and training in wood science and technology, non-wood forest products, tree improvement and related subjects. It has well equipped laboratories and workshops with wood processing machineries, timber seasoning and preservation plant, and modern instruments. Facilities include tissue culture laboratory, seed technology laboratory, vegetative propagation facilities, workshop for processing wood samples for various experiments and chemical analysis of oils, gums, tannins and other non-wood forest products.
