Its main objectives are to disseminate research information through training and extend support to different hematological disease control program in the country. The specialized departments within the institute include Red Cell Serology, Leukocyte Immunology, Red Cell Enzymes, Haemoglobinopathies, Cytogenesis, Cell Biology, Homeostasis and Transfusion Transmitted Diseases and Autoimmune Disorders.
