Hazrat Ubaidullah

Hazrat Ubaidullah, an Arab saint, is believed to have propagated Islam in Lakshadweep. According to local populace, he came here in the 7th century AD.

Once while praying at Mecca, Ubaidullah fell asleep. Then Prophet Mohammed appeared in his dream and asked him to leave for distant shores to propagate Islam. In accordance with this, he left the place and after months of sailing, he finally reached Lakshadweep.
