Hamirpur is a historic town situated on the banks of the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh. It is the headquarters of Hamirpur District and is around 70 km south of
Kanpur.
The topography of the region is marked by level grounds, the exception being the hillocks in the south. The city has a rich history hidden behind its impassive feel. Ruins dating back to the 11th century had been unearthed from the place. Jhansi is southwest of Hamirpur.
Nearest airport is at Lucknow.
Orai, located west of Hamirpur, lies on the
Lalitpur-Lucknow line and is the nearest railhead. The
National Highway 86 passes through Hamirpur.
