Haldia Institute of Technology, established in 1996-97, is affiliated to the Vidyasagar University. The institute runs four branches of engineering degree courses - Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Its central library has a good collection of more than 7,000 text books, hand books, reference books, a number of journals, proceedings, and magazines. Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls. Well equipped laboratories, medical centre, engineering workshops, and computer centre are among the other available facilities.
