Situated near to Tumel, Gorpung is a small village in Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 162 km from the state capital, Srinagar, and is to the eastern side of Kargil. Lalung Glacier is within a short distance from here.
Perched at an altitude of 10,557 ft above the sea level, the place, with its many hiking trails, has long been a haven for trekkers and climbers. Gorpung is well connected with the neighboring places such as Tumel, Anati, Shogram and Buruqqu.
Gorpung can be accessed on the Kargil – Sachik road.
