Gokarn Mutt

Gokarn Mutt, also known as Bandikeri Mutt, lies near Kotiteertha at Gokarna in Uttara Kannada District. Initially this place was a temple named Uma Maheshwar Temple. It became Mutt after the Samadhi of His Highness Adi Parijnanashram Swami.

A shrine of Umamaheshwari (Goddess Parvati) is located at the center of the quadrangle enclosed by chandrashala, a circular or horse shoe shaped arch. The idol was brought from Gersappa, near Shimoga, by H H Krishnashram Swamiji. The Samadhi shrine faces the main gate.

The Punyatithi (anniversary) of the saint is celebrated in a grand manner. Gokarna Road Railway Station, 6 km from Gokarna, is the nearest railhead.
