Garur Ganga

Garur Ganga, also spelt Garud Ganga, is a charming village situated five km from Pipalkoti in Chamoli District. It is located at an elevation of about 1,372 m in the Garur Valley. The village lies on the banks of the Gurud Ganga River. This village is rich in legends.

It is believed that on the way to Badrivan, Lord Badrinath left his mount, Garuda(the king of birds) here. So Garud decided to live on the banks of the river and indulged with snakes. The pebbles and stones here are said to be the antidotes to snake bite. People collect and keep these stones to ward off snakes.
