Gachu is a scenic village located in the lap of the Great Himalayas in Kargil District. Set at an altitude of 12,037 ft, it is about 184 km from Srinagar and 264 km away from Jammu.
Gachu has Sando in the west, Langtut in the north, Talma in the east and Yogma Kharbu in the south. Mulbekh, Mulbekh Gompa and Namika La are places of tourist importance outside Gachu.
