Sadras is an ancient town located 16 kilometer from Mahabalipuram. It was a Dutch settlement in the past. There is a fort with a huge granary in the town which was built by the Dutch. There is a Dutch cemetery in the fort. Dutch traders used this fort to export goods from India. The fort is now under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India.
