Elephant Festival

Hastimangala

Elephant Festival is celebrated annually in Jaipur, on the day of Holi. It is a great occasion for the tourists to watch several elephant sports.

Most of the participants are female elephants. The elephants are decorated with paintings on the trunks, foreheads and feet, and covered with interesting trinkets. A royal procession of sixty elephants is the hallmark of the festival. Caparisoned elephants, lancers on horses, chariots, camels, cannons and palanquins in an ambience of the royal era are eye-catching. Games such as tug of war, elephant race and elephant polo are some of the main attractions.

Finally, the tourists are invited to mount the elephants and play Holi.
