The famous Edneer Mutt is in Edneer, in Kasargod District. It attracts devotees from all over Kerala, Karnataka and other parts of the country.
This major seat of art and learning belongs to the tradition of Thotakacharya, one of the four disciples of Shankaracharya. The Edneer Mutt was established by the swamiji of Padinjare Mutt in Trichambaram, which in turn was founded by a direct disciple of Thotakacharya.
