Don Bosco Ashalayam, a center for the rehabilitation and development of street and destitute children is in Kolkata, West Bengal. It aims to restore hope and dignity for the poor boys and girls from five to eighteen years of age. In order to implement the objective, they have started six houses, production and sales center, two mid-way homes for boys and a shelter for girls. Besides academic programs, children get ample opportunity in vocational training also. Ashalayam provides special attention in teaching the youth the art of saving that helps the children to buy land, build a home and a family. Leadership camps, blood donation camps, entertainment and cultural programs are also conducted.
