The Dindigul Fort is situated at a height of 280 feet. The construction work of the fort was started by the Madurai King Muthu Krishna Naicker in 1605. It was completed by Mannar Thirumalai Naicker. The fort was under the control of Tipu Sultan from 1784 to 1790. Tipu was defeated in 1790 by the British and the fort came into their hands.
