Dehbichaar Geet

Dehbichaar Geet is a typical folk song prevalent in Darrang District of Assam. It is believed to have been introduced in post Sankaradeva period and is also known by the name Mangaldaiya.

Khanjari, a tiny leather percussion instrument, is mainly used in the performance. Apart from this, the string instrument named Dotara, Tokaaree and the chamber made of matured gourd are used. Dehbichaar Geet is similar to the famous Baul songs of West Bengal.
