Clock Tower

Clock Tower is a Moorish style structure standing high in Lucknow. It lies midway between Chota Imambara and Bada Imambara.

It was built to commemorate the occasion of the arrival of Sir George Cooper, the first Lt Governor of the United Province, during the fag end of the 19th century. Built by Nawab Nasir-ud-Din Haidar at a whopping amount of 0.2 million, it houses one of the biggest clocks in India.

The parts of the clock are built of pure gunmetal and the pendulum hangs 14 feet with a European style artwork. The dial of this clock is shaped like a 12-petalled flower and has bells around it.
