Situated at a high altitude of about 3,487 ft, Chineni is a major town in Udahmpur District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is to the north-east of Udhampur. Chineni is surrounded by
Narsu in the west, Kud in the north and Sudh Mahadev in the east.
The place holds the major power station. Sudh Mahadev Temple, an ancient temple of Shiva, is a local attraction.
