Chhal is situated in Raigarh District of Chhattisgarh. The town is located about 45 km north-west of Raigarh and 75 km north-east of Janjgir.
Surrounding places include Kharsia, Sithra and Sakti. Singhanpur Caves, a tourist spot, is located nearby.
Shri Shyam Mandir and Jindal Steel Plant, one of the largest steel plants in the state after Bhilai Steel Plant, are the other interesting places around the town.
Kharsia Railway Station serves Chhal.
