Center for Ocean and Island Studies is unique of its kind in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, established for providing intensive training and research in the field of marine biology. It is located in Port Blair. The center initiated its activities from the academic year 2000-2001. The center offers M.Sc course in Marine Biology and provides basic infrastructure facilities to conduct research in Marine Biology. The main objective of this Center is to develop human resources to undertake ocean and island related studies and to focus on the biological oceanography and development of database on physical, chemical, geological and oceanographic aspects, coral reef monitoring and its management and marine environmental management.
