Located Makkamkunnu hills in Pathanamthitta, Catholicate College is among the leading educational institutions of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, the college has eleven graduate and twelve post-graduate programs. Research facilities in Malayalam, Hindi, botany, zoology and political science are provided.
The college is around 30 km south-east of Chengannur, which holds the nearest railhead - Chengannur Railway Station.
