Bidri Ceremony

Bidri Ceremony is one of the festivals of Gonds in Madhya Pradesh. This festival is celebrated to ensure better crops. It is celebrated before the beginning of the sowing of summer crops. During this ceremony, the priest (Gunia) collects seeds of crops such as Kodo and Kutki and sows beneath the tree where a domestic god named Thakur Dev lives. He returns some seeds to each cultivator or sows in the center of the land on which crops are to be grown. A feast is offered to all those who took part in this ceremony.
