Begur

Begur Village is about 25 km from Bangalore and is off Bomanhalli on the Hosur highway. The village is declared as a pre-historic site by Karnataka State Bangalore District Gazetteer.

Begur was once a great center of Sanskrit and Vedic studies and now is the site of 1300-year-old Panchalingeswara Temple, which belonged to the Ganga period. Begur was also a Jain pilgrimage center during the Ganga Dynasty.
