It enshrines the temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna, of which former is under the management of Devaswom Board. Navratri is the major festival celebrated here.

The strong influence of Tamil culture is prevalent in this area. Tamil speaking Chettiars, apart from Iyers, are the inhabitants.
