Anjaikkallathappar Temple

Anjaikkallathappar Temple is a famous Shiva temple situated at Tiruanjaikallam (Thiruvanchikulam) in Thrissur District. It is dedicated to Lord Anjaikkallathappar, a form of Lord Shiva. The idols of Lord Nataraja and Lord Dakshinamurthy are located on the eastern side of the temple. The beautiful bronze images of Cheraman Perumal and Sundaramurthy Nayanar are also here.

Constructed in typical Kerala style, the temple has a chariot shaped sanctum and a conical shaped vimana coated with copper layers. The temple walls are carved with exquisite images and murals. A marvelous brass lamp is worth visiting.

The annual festival of the temple falls either in June or July. Various cultural programs are arranged as part of the celebrations. Shivaratri is also celebrated in a grand manner.

A suburb of Kodungallur, Tiruanjaikallam was a center of great historic significance during the Chera period. Ernakulam is about 35 km away from this temple.
