Purulia, West Bengal, the Ananda Marga is a social and spiritual organization. It was started in India in 1955 by Prabhat Rainjain Sarkar, a spiritual master and philosopher, with an objective to help individuals to achieve complete self-realization and to build a social structure in which the physical, mental and spiritual needs of all people can be met. Ananda Marga has yoga and meditation centers, schools, orphanages, food distribution centers, disaster relief programs and medical centers. At present, the organization has centers in various parts of the world.
