Ajekar




Also called Marne Grama, Ajekar is a small agricultural village at the foot of Valikunja in Karkala. Endowed with rich flora and fauna, Ajekar has all season trees and a variety of plants and animals. The major crops grown here are paddy, coconut, areca, cashew, pepper, coca, plantains, and rubber. This peaceful, multi-lingual and multi-religious village has many churches, temple, mosque, and Jaina basadi. Tourists visit here to explore the serene and lush green natural setting of Valikunja.

The village is about 40 km from Udupi and about 65 km north-east of Mangalore. Ajekar has good transportation facilities like buses and jeeps. Mangalore Central Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
