Rudraprayag District



Rudraprayag District of Uttaranchal has a total geographical area of around 1,900 sq km. As the elevation of Rudraprayag ranges from 800 m to 8000 m above sea level the climate largely depends on the altitude. The main languages spoken are Hindi and Garhwali.

The Mandakini is the most important river flowing from the slopes of the Kedarnath peak. The important fairs are the Bishwat Sankranti, Ram Navami, Nag Panchmi, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Deepavali, Shivratri and Holi.

Rudraprayag is blessed with immense natural beauty, places of religious importance, lakes and glaciers. Kedarnath, Bhairo Ji Ka Mandir, Son Prayag, Triyuginarayan, Agastyamuni, Gauri Kund, Mandhata, Guptakashi, Ukhimath, and Madhya Maheshwar are some of the tourist destinations.
