Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary



Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary in Unnao District of Uttar Pradesh is around 45 km from Lucknow and is on Lucknow-Kanpur highway ( National Highway 25).

It spreads in an area of 2246 sq km and has a huge marshland and shallow lake. The vegetation consists of mixed dry forest. Resident and migratory birds include open bill stork, painted stork, white necked stork, black necked stork, white ibis, glossy ibis, black ibis, darter, cormorants, white breasted water hen, spot bill, spoon bill, saras cranes, whistling teal, egret, pheasant teal, jacana, bronzed winged jacana, purple moorhen, Indian moorhen, grebes, lapwing, purple heron and pond heron. Amausi Airport is the nearest airport and Lucknow Junction Railway Station serves as the nearest railhead.
