Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary



Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Chandauli District of Uttar Pradesh and is about 70 km south-east of Varanasi.

Sprawling over an area of 78 sq km, it is located on Naugarh and Vijaigarh hillocks in Vindhya forest range. Typical dry deciduous forests occupy the sanctuary. Blackbucks, chital, sambar deer, nilgai, wild boar, porcupine and Indian gazelle are the common species found. The reptilian species include gharial and python. Rajdari and Deodari waterfalls are located within the forest area.

Mid-November to mid-June is ideal to visit the sanctuary.

Mughal Sarai Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
