Barnawa

Barnawa is situated on the high right bank of the Hindon River, between 29° 7'N latitude and 77 ° 26'E longitude. It is about 18 km from Sardhana and 36 km from Meerut. Founded several years ago by Raja Ahibarana Tomar, this place is identified with the Varanavata of the Mahabharat and the old mound to the south of the village is believed to be the ruins of the Lakshagriha (the house of lac) which the Kauravas burnt down in their attempt to kill the Pandavas. Pandav Quila - believed to be a fort associated with the Mahabharat - is the main tourist attraction here.
