Mecheri is located in Salem District, Tamil Nadu. This prominent place is on the way to Mettur from Dharmapuri and Omalur. The place got its name from the Tamil word 'Mechal Eri' which literally means grazing tank. Arulmigu Badrakaliamman Temple is the main attraction here.
Mettur Dam, built across the River Cauvery, is a nearby tourist spot. The hill station of Yercaud can be reached from here.
