Papanasam

Papanasam is a holy place on the western ghats also known as Pothigai hills. Legend states it was close to the Papanasam Falls, on the banks of the Tamiraparani river where that Siva and Parvati appeared before the sage Agasthya. The falls came to be known as the "Agasthya Falls". In order to commemorate the visit of the divine couple, the Agasthya temple was built there.
