Kurumpalanathar Temple



Kurumpalanathar Temple lies 6 km west of Tenkasi at Kuttralam, Tirunelveli District. The temple with spiral shaped prakaram is one of the 64 Shaktipithas. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is a separate worship place for Goddess Parvati. When viewed from one part of the prakaram, one can see the image of Vinayaka, the Shivlinga, the gopuram, the hill and the waterfalls. The temple has a Chitra Sabha and a dance hall. Various sculptural works and paintings adorn the mandapam. The annual festivals celebrated are Vasantha Utsavam in the month of Chittirai (April-May) and Pavithrotsavam in the month of Karthigai (November–December). Other festivals of the temple are Navratri, Thandava Deepa Aradhanai, Skanda Sashti, and Arudhra Darisanam.
