Pelapur Temple lies on the banks of Palar River, at Pelapur near Chengalpattu in Kanchipuram District. The temple is about 5 km from Chengalpattu Junction Railway Station. It is also known as Kodanda Rama Temple. The presiding deities are Lord Keerthinarayana and Lord Kodandarama. There is a separate shrine to house the shivling, called Vasishteswarar. Other idols worshipped here are those of Sri Ram, Sita and Lakshman. The temple houses a thirumadaippalli (kitchen) and vahana mandapam.
The temple is believed to have its existence from the period of Vijayanagar dynasty. There are records revealing the various religious activities that took place during the rule of King Sadasivaraya.
Ramanavami Festival is celebrated in a grand manner at this temple. Navratri, Dhanurmasam festival and Samvatsarotsavam are conducted for Keerthinarayana Perumal in the month of Aani (mid May - mid June) for five days. Divyaprabanda Seva and recital of Upanishads are the main features of all the festivals. Devotees throng the temple in large numbers, during the festive seasons.
