Jharsuguda District




Half a million people reside in Jharsuguda District's 2,000 sq km area. With an annual rainfall over 100 cm, this region has a mild climate. The headquarters is 53348Jharsuguda, an important commercial center, conveniently located on the Kolkata-Mumbai route. The natural resources include iron-ore and coal. Leather, rice, wood and Kendu leaves are other major products. Oriya, Hindi and English are widely spoken.

The Kharasrota, Birupa, and Ib rivers make the region fertile. The prehistoric caves at Bikramkhol are a major tourist attraction. Brahmanidih Caves, Manikmoda Caves, Gujapahar, Kuilighugar and Pikalghugar are the other places of interest.
