Jayadeva




Jayadeva, a distinguished Sanskrit writer of the 12th century AD, was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. He lived on the banks of the Ganges, in West Bengal, and served as a poet in the court of King Lakshmana Sena of Bengal. Jayadeva's devotion is legendary and there are many stories in relation to this. He composed numerous songs describing Krishna, the most popular being 'Gita Govinda'. Gita Govinda describes the love of Radha and Krishna in 12 cantos.
