Parbhani, formerly known as Prabhavatinagar, is one of the seven districts in the Marathwada region. It is well known for its fertile land. With an area of about 6,511 sq km, the district has a population of over 1.4 million. The languages spoken are
Marathi,
Hindi and
Urdu. Gondhal, Shahiri and Bharud are the major folk-arts. The temperature ranges from 10o C to 42o C. Parbhani District receives an annual rainfall of over 95 cm. Jowar and cotton are the major crops.
Sant Janabai mandir at Gangakhed, Jain temple cave at Jintur, Sayyed Shah Turabul Haq Baba Dargah and Shree Pardeshwar temple at Parbhani and the birth place temple of
Shirdi Sai Baba at Pathri are the tourist attractions.
