Shri Venu Gopala Temple is a 400 year old temple situated at
Purakkad, 16 km off Alappuzha on NH 47 towards Kollam. The main deity, Shri Venu Gopala is placed on a throne with Lakshmi devi on the left and Bhoomi devi on the right side.
Besides the main deities in the temple sanctum, idols of Garuda, Hanuman, Ganapati and Mahalakshmi are also installed.
Cochin airport is the nearest airport located at a distance of 90 km from the shrine. Ambalappuzha railway station is the closest railhead.
