Edakkunni Sri Durga Temple



Edakkunni Sri Durga Temple is situated at Ollur, 7 km south of Thrissur. It is among the 108 Durga temples built by Parashuram. The presiding deity is Goddess Durga.

The royal gopuram (ornamental gateway), the anapalla mathilkettu (compound walls), ootupura (feeding hall), naalambalam (building surrounding the sanctum sanctorum) and shrikovil (sanctum) of the temple are worth-seeing.

The main festival celebrated in the temple is the Uthramvilakku. An impressive section of the festival is the ceremonial procession of elephants. An art of drum called Pancharimelam is also performed.
