Neelimala

Neelimala Hill, northeast of Pamba, is the abode of Lord Ayyappa. It is where Lord Ayyappa engaged in his penance for seeking eternal salvation. Both sides of this steep hill provide an amazing scene of the green valleys. There are two routes to climb Neelimala. One is through the straight and steep Appachimedu, Sabaripeedom and the other is through the slopes of Neelimala. This lofty and steep hill marks the beginning of the steepest climb of the pilgrimage.

The trek starts from Pamba. The pilgrims can reach Kottayam and Chengannur by railway and from there by bus to Pamba.
