Malikuth Waterfalls

Malikuth Waterfalls is located 15 km east of Cheruthoni at Vathikudy in Idukki District, Kerala. Apart from tourists, the locals too frequent this area blessed by scenic beauty.

The specialty of the place is the two analogous falls that follow from the same stream, which is one of the major tributaries of the river Periyar. The division of the stream starts a few steps above the mountain that sidles to the left to create another fall, though smaller in size. During the monsoon season, rocks are placed at the foothill of the fall to ease the water strength. On a summer day one can stand on the rock and get shrouded in the mist.

The silent environment broken only by the giggling sound of the waters, thrills any nature lover who reaches here.

Malikuth can be accessed from either Ernakulam or Kottayam. By bus, one has to get down at Cheruthoni. From there, a taxi or bus can be taken to Vathikudy. Malikuth is barely 500 m away from here.
