Southern Railways

Southern Railways is one of the main zonal railways in India. Its headquarters is located at Chennai. The Southern Railways serves Kerala, Tamil Nadu, some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Touch screen information terminals providing real-time access to information on reservation availability and status of waitlisted RAC tickets are installed at selected stations. Southern Railways is the first in India to implement the freight operation information system (FOIS), which helps the freight operators to check the position of their consignments. For the convenience of passengers, the railways has provided facilities such as computerized reservation, retiring rooms, dormitories, tourist information centers and Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).

Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station, Ernakulam Junction Railway Station and Chennai Central Railway Station are a few main stations under the administration of Southern Railways.
