Kaviyoor

Kaviyoor is situated on the banks of the river Manimala and is renowned for its temples. It lies about 5 km east of Thiruvalla, Pathanamthitta district. The Rock Cut Cave Temple (Kaviyoor Trikkukkudi Cave) is the main attraction. The main deity is Lord Shiva in the form of a 'Sivalinga', which is about three feet high and carved out of rock. The temple also has idols of Ganapathy, Maharshi, and Dwarapalakas. This well preserved monument is maintained by the Archaeological Department. The temple features the Pallava style of architecture. The carvings of this temple belong to the earliest specimens of stone sculptures in Kerala.

Another attraction of the place is the Hanuman Temple which stands on a small hillock. The temple is constructed in the gable style architecture and it reflects the ancient stone sculpture of Kerala.
