Sirsi in Uttara Kannada District is a peaceful town dotted with terracotta-tiled houses, ancient Hindu and Jain temples. It is a business center for supari, cardamom and pepper and also forest produce. The 16th century Marikamba Temple and its annual car festival are the main attractions of this place. Close by, Sahasra Linga (Thousand Lingas) carved from a rock-bed is placed in the middle of a whirling river in the midst of the verdant forest.
