Vicharnag

Situated at an altitude of 5,167 ft above sea level, Vicharnag is a pilgrim spot located near Soura in the Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir. Located on the way to Khir Bhawani Temple from Srinagar, this suburb is about 5 km from Srinagar. Bahloujipura in the west, Wontabowan in the north, Lal Bazar in the east and Naushera in the south bounds Vicharnag.

The holy spring situated here is the prime attraction of this place. Vicharnag Temple in the vicinity is another point of interest. It is believed that Lord Shiva had meditated at this place for some time. Pandits (priests) coming from this place to Srinagar are nicknamed Vichari.
