This ancient temple is dedicated to Mal Devi, the reincarnation of Sharda Devi (Goddess Parvati). It is believed to have been built by Madho Singh, an exiled prince of Chambe.

For accommodation, there are a number of Sarais of PWD, State Tourism and Shrine Management.

Regular bus services connect the temple with Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur and Billawar.
