The principal attraction is Kanika stupa (image), which is in the backyard of the monastery. It dates back to the 2nd century. There is a huge central prayer hall, which houses a variety of statues of Buddhists saints. A chapel is also attached, where an interesting collection of frescoes and stucco murals can be seen. Another highlight is an old cemetery, which is a fine example of ancient rock carvings.

Sani is related to a saint named Naropa, who is believed to have been meditated here for sometimes under the Kanika Stupa. A veiled bronze image of Naropa can be found here. This image is unveiled once in a year during July, and a two day festival is held on this occasion.
